Scheduling Meetings Set Up for Current Eighth Grade Students and Parents

The counselors and administration at Frenship High School have arranged scheduling meetings for all current eighth grade students and parents to help make the transition from eighth grade to ninth grade as smooth as possible.

The meetings are designed to allow students and parents the opportunity to visit with a counselor or career representative individually for a brief 15-20 minutes. During that time, the student will select an endorsement, create a four-year plan for high school, and select their courses for ninth grade next year.

It is the expectation of FISD that all students and their parents or guardians attend a mandatory on-site scheduling event. Families are encouraged to attend at their home campus but may visit any location for a scheduled appointment. Below are the scheduled meeting dates:

Heritage Middle School library

Monday, February 12

7:00 a.m. – 9:00 a.m. (by appointment only)

Terra Vista Middle School library

There are several options to sign up for an appointment.

  • Use the signup genius link on the Ninth Grade Center website https://ninth.frenship.net under “Latest News” to select your preferred time and location.
  • Go to http://www.signupgenius.com and use the main search tool (top right hand corner) to search for an event by creator email. Search using [email protected] to find the “Parent Scheduling Nights for 8th Graders.” Select your preferred time and location.
  • Email or call Jessica Duran, FHS Ninth Grade Counseling Secretary) at [email protected] or call 806-866-0110 to schedule an appointment.
  • Come as a walk-in (evenings only) but be prepared to wait based on the length of appointment times.

In preparation for the upcoming scheduling meetings, students and parents are encouraged to the following items:

  • Attend the FHS Course Fair on Thursday, February 8 to learn about course offerings and visit with faculty. It will be in the FHS Student Center and Old Gym from 6:00 to 7:30 p.m. There will be a Parent Teacher Student Association (PTSA) meeting at 5:30 prior to the Course Fair in the Student Center.
  • Be prepared to select courses for your ninth grade schedule. Students will need to choose eight credits.
  • Be prepared to select an endorsement at the scheduling event.
  • Be prepared to complete a high school four-year plan by choosing four electives based on endorsement. Parents can reference the Course Guide and other documents on the Ninth Grade Center webpage https://ninth.frenship.net/. Please bring information this to the meeting. It will be turned in and used each year to guide each student. Please remember this is a working document and can always change.
