Frenship High School Winterguard Makes History at State Championships

For the first time in school history, the Frenship High School Varsity Blue Team advanced to the NTCA State Championship Finals. Throughout the season, they consistently placed in the Top 10, including a 1st place finish and three 2nd place finishes, one of which was earned during the State Championship Prelims. In an intensely competitive Championship round featuring 16 elite teams, the Frenship Varsity Blue Team finished 6th overall and increased their prelims score by 1.5 points.

Just before spring break, the team delivered a standout performance at Saginaw High School, earning them a 2nd place finish in the last regular contest of the season. Their score was just 0.73 points shy of first place and only 0.29 points away from being promoted to the Scholastic A class, marking a significant milestone for the program.

To cap it all off, the Tigers increased their score by an impressive 8.73 points from their last contest. Their show, But Now I’m Found, beautifully captured the journey through pain, loss, and redemption, ultimately finding Amazing Grace. Every performance reflected the heart and hard work the students poured into their craft.

The following day, the Frenship High School JV Gold Team closed their 2025 season with pride, finishing 11th out of 13 in their Regional A round at the Championships. The JV Gold team had an outstanding season, rising through three competitive divisions. They began with a 2nd place finish in Novice, earned a promotion, followed by a 1st place finish in RAA, another promotion, and then placed 5th and 6th in Regional A contests.

With nine brand-new members and only one returner with a single year of experience, Frenship Gold far exceeded expectations. Their performance, Over the Rainbow, brought smiles to faces, judges and audience alike. The team showed incredible growth in performance skills, flag achievement, and movement fundamentals.

To celebrate a remarkable season, both Frenship Blue and Gold Teams will perform one final time on Monday, April 14th at 6:00 PM in the Tiger Pit during the Fine Arts Showcase. The community is invited to attend and cheer on these hardworking students.

Coach Amanda Knight is extremely proud and honored to lead the Tigers this past season.

“This season was incredible. The students are the best of the best when it comes to working hard to put on a great performance, and their growth was inspiring to watch. Everyone should keep an eye on this team because it's only up from here,” said Knight. “I'm looking forward to what they will accomplish next year, and I'm excited to get back to work. I'm a lucky person to get to do this every day. I have an incredible team, and I just want to thank my students, their parents, my design team and tech staff, and the Band staff for always being by my side!”

Congratulations to both Winterguard teams on a season full of passion, progress, and pride. The future is bright for Frenship Winterguard!
