Frenship Girls Basketball Closes Out Powerful Season

The Tigers recently closed out a very impressive record-breaking season. The Girls Basketball team had 31 wins, the 2nd most wins in Frenship school history. They also tied the 2004 team by advancing the furthest in playoff history by making it to the Regional Finals. The Tigers finished off the year ranked #5 for the Texas Girls Coach Association, #7 for MaxPreps, and #13 for the Texas Association of Basketball Coaches.

Throughout the season, the team maintained a strong sense of unity and motivation.

"Our kids really enjoyed the season and got along well with each other," said Coach Trent Hilliard. "We had a big mix of kids with three seniors, four juniors, two sophomores, and two freshmen on this year's team. They embraced each other and made the year special by truly believing and living out the motto they chose for this season - WE>me."

The Tigers had several defining moments in their journey to the Regional Finals.

"We won our ninth District Championship in a row, our 10th Bi-District Championship in a row, our third Area Championship in a row, and our first Regional Semifinal since 2004," said Coach Hilliard.

One of the most intense moments of the season came in the Area round game.

"We were down 14 points to Mansfield Legacy in the second quarter and were able to come back and win by two points," said Coach Hilliard. "From then on, our kids believed that we were going to win."

Looking ahead, Coach Hilliard is confident in the team’s ability to continue its success.

"Our kids are hungry to make it to state," said Coach Hilliard. "They know they were as good as anybody this last year, so I think they will be motivated to work hard in the offseason to do everything they can to reach their goals for next year."

Coach Hilliard also expressed his gratitude for the departing seniors.

"We are going to miss our three seniors tremendously," said Coach Hilliard. "Kiah Buchanan, Kedan Burch, and Addyson Middleton provided us with great leadership and work ethics that set the tone for each and every practice and game. They were all a part of going 64-11 the last two years – setting the standard for what Frenship High School basketball should look like moving forward."

Incredible work, Frenship Girls Basketball! We could not be prouder of your season.
