Frenship Marching Band Place 8th at Bands of America Contest

Each year, the Frenship High School Marching Band upholds its tradition of excellence throughout the competition season. This past weekend the band headed to Ratliff Stadium in Odessa, Texas to compete in the Bands of America West Texas Regional Championship.

The Bands of America contest is sponsored by Music for All, a non-profit organization that believes music and arts education is core to students’ education and is an advocate for music and arts education nationwide. Their mission is to create, provide, and expand positively life-changing experiences through music.

The Frenship band performed their 2024 marching production titled “Zoom Zoom”. This show encompasses the speed and excitement of Formula 1 racing with four musical movements including “The Starting Line”, “The Race Begins”, “Pit Stop”, and “Final Lap – Victory Lane”.

Marching under the direction of Frenship Band Director Scott Carter, the Frenship Band advanced to the finals, and placed 8th overall. They competed against 18 bands from the Dallas-Fort Worth metroplex, as well as participants from El Paso and eastern New Mexico.

Carter noted that the band continues to improve, having secured one placement higher than last year, and they are eager to perform this show at their next opportunity.

“We are so proud of the hard work and dedication that our students have put into bringing this show to life,” said Carter. “They have been working hard since late July to produce the best performance possible and continue to improve every day. We are close to completing all the musical and visual aspects of the show and can’t wait to showcase it at the next level.”

The Frenship Band is competing in five competitions this season. Fresh off the Bands of America finalist performance, the band's next competition is at the Tumbleweed Marching Festival in Denver City, followed by the Westerner Marching Festival in Lubbock. The band will then enter the UIL portion of the season with the UIL Region Marching Contest in Lubbock, and then the UIL Area A Marching Contest in Odessa where they hope to qualify for the UIL State Marching Championships held in San Antonio.

Good luck Frenship Marching Band!
