Frenship Tennis Advances to Regionals After Strong District Performance

The Tiger Tennis Team concluded the District 2-6A tournament in Odessa, TX with significant success, securing the Boys Team Championship and achieving runner-up for the Girls Team. Check out their results below.  

Following the initial day of competition, an impressive 15 out of the total 16 team members advanced to the second day of district play. Throughout day two, 15 Tigers achieved placings. 

In boys singles, Carson Rodriguez secured victory in his first-round match against Odessa High with a flawless 6-0, 6-0. Although he did not come through victorious in the match against the number 2 seed, he concluded the season as a district quarterfinalist. 

Additionally, Aiden Irelan, entering the tournament as the #4 seed displayed remarkable resilience, overcoming a challenging three-and-a-half-hour match to advance to the semi-finals. While he did not secure victory in the semi-finals, he claimed third place and earned the opportunity to compete in the play-back match for 2nd place, ultimately coming through with the victory. Irelan is currently representing Frenship at the Regional competition.    

In the girls singles division, Hope Hancock and Maizy Adams showcased their skill and effectiveness on the court. Hope, seeded 4th, securing victories before finishing 4th overall. Maizy, entering as the number 2 seed, dominated her matches, earning 2nd place and securing a spot at Regionals. 

In boys doubles, Carson Smith and Preston Lowder demonstrated their skill, clinching 2nd place and advancing to Regional play, while Oliver Boyce and Dylan Lambert secured 3rd place. 

The girls doubles teams, Alyssa Lowder/Bryleigh Norman and Mackenzie West/Kiera Wiles, displayed exceptional teamwork, with Lowder/Norman securing 2nd place and advancing to Regionals. 

In mixed doubles, Lauren McCombs and Joseph McCombs secured 3rd place, while the unseeded team of Emery Murray and Myles Groseclose delivered an outstanding performance. 

The Frenship High School Tennis Coaches express immense pride in the team's performance at District and are hopeful for good results during Regional play. The Regional Competition will wrap up on Saturday, May 11. Stay tuned for the results.
