Girls Soccer Named District Champions

The Frenship Girls Soccer Team has had an incredible season. The team not only celebrated a District Championship title, but also celebrated an undefeated regular season. The Tigers secured the District title against San Angelo Central, winning 1-0. The winning goal was scored by Jaycee Garza.

Head Girls Soccer Coach, Lauren Denning, is proud of the team’s accomplishments and has seen the grit and determination in each player.

“Winning District is always a great goal to have for a season and a great accomplishment to show that you can compete over a long stretch of games,” said Coach Denning. “We knew that coming out of our tournament season we had the talent, but perseverance is always harder to predict, and these girls showed they had it throughout.”

The Tigers had an overall record of 15-0-5 and 9-0-1 in district play. Coach Denning believes the team is in a good spot as they prepare for Bi-District playoffs.

“Starting district play with an undefeated season was obviously another goal to maintain that undefeated status and the girls did that. There were some games that weren’t our best, but we found a way to bounce back, and I think we’re in a good spot before the playoffs,” said Coach Denning.

The Bi-District playoffs for Frenship Girls Soccer is on Monday, March 25, against El Paso Eastwood starting at 2:00 p.m. The game will be hosted at Pecos High School.

“Playoffs are always fun because the stakes are higher, and the competition brings excitement. To know that you’re only guaranteed 80 minutes at a time is something that can be daunting, but I think these girls have shown that they are ready to compete with top teams around the state.”

Congratulations, Girls Soccer! We will be cheering you on at Bi-District!
