Frenship High School Marching Band Honors Veterans

With Veteran’s Day on the horizon, the Frenship Marching Band wanted to find a way to honor those who serve our country. At the final district football game, both teams' marching band decided to collaborate on a special halftime show.

Between the two bands, almost 600 students participated in the joint performance. Veterans in attendance were asked to stand and be recognized when their service song was performed.

“We loved collaborating with the San Angelo Band,” stated Scott Carter, the Director of Bands at Frenship High School. “It gave our students the opportunity to meet their students and we had a great time honoring our Veterans.”

The bands performed “Marches of the Armed Forces” facing the San Angelo home side, then turned to “The Horse” towards the Frenship side. They also coordinated color guard choreography by sharing videos so all guard members could perform the same choreography.

“In the course of our competitive seasons, we rarely have the opportunity to collaborate with other musical ensembles,” stated Carter. “It was really nice to join together for a common cause. The directors from both schools were very proud of this performance and hope to do it again sometime in the future.”
