Cross Country Thrives at LCU Meet and Prepares for District Championship

The weather could not have been more ideal on Saturday as the Tigers ran the course at Lubbock Christian University. The Varsity Girls came in 1st place and Varsity Boys came in 7th place.  

“Tiger Cross Country had a great day on a beautiful Saturday at the LCU Course Preview Race at LCU,” said Head Cross Country Coach, Jeff Bigham.  

Varsity Girls ran a 5K distance with Andrea Irelan crossing the finish line in 2nd place. Abcde Martinez came in 4th place and Isabelle Leonard was not far behind coming in at 5th place for the Varsity Girls.  

For the Varsity Boys, Jacob Murray finished 23rd and Ryan Cluff finished 28th. The JV Boys Team finished in 1st place. Yoel Favela crossed the finish line in 2nd place. Isiah Moreno came in 3rd and Kyler Hudgens was right behind him in 4th place for the JV Boys. 

“LCU had a great meet. We are very pleased to get 23 medals (awarded to top 20 finishers in all divisions),” said Coach Bigham.  

Next up for the Tiger Cross Country team is the District Meet at UTPB park in Odessa on Thursday, October 12.  

The Varsity Boys will run at 10:30 a.m. and soon after, the Varsity Girls race starts at 11:15 a.m.  

The JV Boys race begins at 12:00 p.m. and the JV Girls starts right after at 12:45 p.m.
