Frenship High School Choir Students participate in the All-Region Choir Auditions

During the TMEA All-Region Auditions the students prepare a predetermined set of songs and work on sight singing skills. On the day of the audition, students will sing cuts of the songs they have prepared, then sight sing a short melody they have never seen or heard prior for a panel of five judges. Then, auditions are ranked with sight singing earning 20% of the total score.

34 members of the Frenship Choir made the All-Region Choir. These students will now perform in the Region Clinic and Concert. Students will rehearse selected pieces with a special guest clinician. The Concert is Saturday, November 4, 2023, at 6:30 p.m. at Monterey High School. Tickets for the concert are $5.00.

25 students of the Frenship Choir will now advance to the Pre-Area Auditions. These students will prepare a new set of music for this audition and sight sing, but the difficulty will increase. The Pre-Area Auditions will be on Tuesday, November 14th at Levelland High School.

Director of Choirs, Amy Moss, is incredibly proud of the students. The songs they were asked to sing for the All-Region Choir Auditions were not easy.

“We are abundantly proud of all our students that choose to take on this process. It is optional and requires an extreme amount of preparation outside of class time,” said Moss. “I love this process because no matter where they place, our students always show tremendous growth from how much work they must do to hone their vocal technique and sight singing abilities.”
