Tiger Volleyball Takes Down Coronado Mustangs

The Frenship Tigers had a great game on September 16, defeating the Mustangs (3-0) and to celebrate the win Head Volleyball Coach Amy Mangum planned a special surprise practice for the team.

“We had a surprise practice Monday, and it was so fun! This is something I did at my previous job. We don’t tell the girls that we are doing it and have them to get in the van. It is something we like to do mid-year for team bonding. It worked perfectly with an open date on Tuesday. It was a relaxing afternoon. It was great to see the girls enjoy some down time together,” said Coach Mangum.

The team visited Board and Brush, making custom wooden board décor. Then, the team wrapped up the afternoon with ice cream at Holly Hop Ice Cream Shoppe.

“Coronado was a great match to have to finish up our pre-district season. It definitely pushed us in some different ways, as it wasn’t the norm that we are used to. But I feel like the girls stepped up and finished games well,” said Coach Mangum.

To kickoff District, the Tigers go head-to-head against the San Angelo Central Bobcats, tonight, September 22, at 5:00 p.m. in the Tiger Pit.

“We are starting with San Angelo Central, who is a very strong team! We have been preparing for District and are excited to get the district season rolling. It definitely will be tough. But we plan to prepare well and be strong against each of our strong district teams,” said Coach Mangum.

Coach Mangum is pleased with the growth of the Tigers during the pre-district season and is looking forward to what’s to come.

“I am so proud of how far we have come as a team. And we know that we still can make more improvements,” said Coach Mangum. “If we can stay strong as one team, I feel like we can have great success going forward!”
