Frenship Cross Country Teams Compete in Canyon Relay

Frenship’s Cross Country team has hit the ground running for this year's season. Their first meet at Canyon High School was a good starting point to set the pace for a strong season.

The Girls Team finished 2nd overall. Running for the Girls Team is Zyla Deshone, Lauren Griffin, Ashley Griffin, and Amaya Mendoza.

The Boys Team had a very close race finishing 4th overall. Running for the Boys Team is Blake Morrison, Cade Franklin, Brett Cram, and Ryan Cluff.

Head Cross Country Coach, Jeff Bigham, is hoping to build more momentum as the season continues.

“The first meet went well. The girls did one place better than last year (2nd from 3rd) and the boys did the same as last year (4th). Considering the boys won district last year, that’s not too bad,” said Coach Bigham.

A major goal for the Cross Country team this season is for every team to excel, both girls and boys, as well as JV and Varsity.

“Primary goal for the season is for every team to be 6A-District 2 Champions. Also striving for both varsity teams to finish better than last year at the Region 1 Regional Meet and to have at least one runner qualify for the 6A State meet,” said Coach Bigham.

An additional goal is to continue building up strong leadership amongst the teams.

“We are a very senior heavy team this year, which means we have lots of leadership and lots of potential. I hope we can keep training hard and see great results,” said Coach Bigham.

The Team is traveling to Denton, TX this weekend for the Coach T Invitational on September 2, 2023.

“The Coach T Invitational in Denton is the best meet in the state this weekend. We will be running in the Elite Varsity division, and it will give us a great preview of the teams we will be facing at Regionals,” said Coach Bigham.
