Varsity Baseball Dominates Permian with 3-Win Series

On April 13-15, Frenship High School Varsity Baseball won all three matchups against the Odessa Permian Panthers.

Game 1: Frenship Wins 5-0

To kick off the series, Frenship’s Nick Blevins threw a shutout to lead the Tigers 5-0 against the Panthers last Thursday.

Frenship opened up scoring in the first inning and Hudson Hutcheson’s sac fly scored one run for the Tigers. Blevins led things off on the pitcher's mound and allowed three hits and zero runs over seven innings, striking out eight and walking one.

The Tigers collected 10 hits. Ethan Curbo and Brady Boles all managed multiple hits for Frenship.  Curbo went 3-for-3 at the plate to lead Frenship in hits.  The Tigers were sure-handed in the field and didn't commit a single error. Hutcheson had the most chances in the field with nine.

Game 2: Frenship Wins 7-3

The Tigers nabbed the lead late in game 2 in a 7-3 victory over Permian on Friday.  The Tigers trailed 2-1 in the top of the 5th inning when Brooks Roberson tripled on a 1-2 count, scoring three runs. The Tigers opened up scoring in the 1stinning.  Boles drove in one with a single.

Ryland Morin earned the victory on the pitcher's mound for Frenship, lasting six innings, allowing five hits and two runs while striking out 11.  Landon Hutcheson threw one inning in relief out of the bullpen.

The Tigers smacked two home runs on the day. Hutcheson went for the long ball in the 6th inning, and Holden Phillips had a long ball in the 7th inning.

The Tigers racked up nine hits in the game. L. Hutcheson and Phillips each collected multiple hits to lead the Tigers. Frenship didn't commit a single error in the field. Hudson Hutcheson had 12 chances in the field, the most on the team.

Game 3: Frenship Wins 9-2

The Tigers easily dispatched the Panthers 9-2 on Saturday to wrap up the series. Frenship got things started in the 1st inning when Ethan Curbo hit into a fielder's choice, scoring one run.

The Tigers scored four runs in the 3rd inning. The Tiger’s offense in the inning was led by Nano Mendoza, Carson Heise, and Landon Hutcheson, all knocking in runs in the inning.

Brooks Roberson was the winning pitcher for Frenship and allowed three hits and two runs over six innings, striking out five.  Zane Cobb threw one inning in relief out of the bullpen.

Blaine Chancy, H. Hutcheson, Mendoza, Kyle Parker, Curbo, L. Hutcheson, Heise, and Roberson all had one hit to lead Frenship. The Tigers were sure-handed and didn't commit a single error. Curbo made the most plays with nine.
