The Frenship JV and Varsity pom took 33 dancers to the Crowd Pleasers Dance Competition in New Braunfels for the final competition of the season. With 18 students on varsity and 15 on JV, each team competed in three team routines and 10 varsity students competed in soloists' categories.
At the competition, the teams were competing in several different ways, from size of division to genre and overall competition. At the Crowd Pleasers Dance Competition there were over 30 other schools and around 200 team routines competing.
Competition season is a rigorous process. Since Frenship Poms serves as both a spirit squad and a competition team, in order to manage the demands of the program, they begin preparation in June with new routines that they work on all year.
“The process of getting routines to the elite competitive level takes a lot of hours and dedication from these dancers,” said Melissa Oakeley, Varsity Pom Coach. “We are extremely lucky to have such talented and driven dancers in our program. We are so proud of these kids!”
Over the last decade, Frenship Pom has grown to be recognized among the dance community as a pom program worth emulating, with a reputation of professionalism and excellence.
