Refresh, Refill, Renew: Frenship Educators Attend Innovation Summit

This year’s Innovation Summit theme was “Refresh. Refill. Renew.”, with the goal of reenergizing educators to finish out the school year strong. “It’s always a fun day where our instructional staff can refill their buckets, enjoy seeing each other, and take new and exciting ideas and technology solutions to implement in their own classrooms,” said Keith Patrick, Frenship ISD Director of Entrepreneurship and Innovation.

The day-long training event featured 140 sessions throughout the day with 106 Frenship educators teaching the classes to their peers. Frenship instructional staff across all grade levels came together for the conference style event to select and attend the sessions that best fit their professional development needs.

With a record number of submissions for presenters, the teacher led sessions included topics such as increasing student engagement, classroom management, incorporating technology into lessons, building meaningful relationships with students, game-based learning, useful tips and educational resources, and self-care for teachers.

“Through these peer-led sessions, our teachers are able to collaborate and share their successful strategies that help our Frenship students thrive and reach their maximum potential,” said Patrick.

In addition to the breakout sessions, Frenship staff also had the opportunity to hear from keynote speaker Kevin Tutt, an author and motivational speaker who inspires and challenges his audiences to reevaluate their personal commitment toward work and life.

“We chose him because he is funny and uplifting, but also willing to provide thoughtful challenges. Mr. Tutt is a man who loves education and pours into his local school district where he lives,” said Patrick. “It has been a challenging time for everyone the last couple of years, and we want our staff to leave Innovation Summit feeling motivated and refreshed to tackle the spring semester.”
