Frenship Boys Basketball Suffers First District Loss but Surges Past Midland High

Frenship Boys Basketball Head Coach Paul Page said the loss to Odessa High was rough for him and his previously undefeated Tigers.

"It was a tough loss on the road at Odessa High last week but in a district like ours, it is difficult to win on the road against a very good Odessa High team," Page said. "But a loss like that can be a very useful as we look to make a deep playoff run again this season."

In the game against the Bronchos, Tajavis Miller led with 18 points and 4 assists, while Tracy Godfrey had 15 points and 8 rebounds.

Flash forward to Tuesday night and the Tigers were back on the court, ready to claim the victory against Midland High.

"It was good to bounce back and play well and get our 9th district win and secure at least a share of our second consecutive district championship over Midland High," Page said. "It was a great defensive team effort that helped to force 26 turnovers."

Jalen Braziel led with 31 points going 5 of 9 from the 3-point line, and Jake Armstrong added 20 points as he added four 3-pointers on his own.

"We actually have two more games, and will need to win one of the two to secure the outright district championship," Page explained.

Friday night’s game against San Angelo Central will be special as 11 senior members of the basketball program are honored.

"We will honor our senior members including players, mangers and trainers," Page said. "Central will be another good team that will be very motivated to win, as they are battling for a higher playoff seeding on Friday."
