Frenship High School Theater Arts teacher Jacob Lierman said this year his young thespians at FHS will be performing Beauty and the Beast and Jekyll and Hyde. The FHS Ninth Grade Center theater group will perform The Jungle Book.
“Beauty and the Beast, as well as Jekyll and Hyde, are entered into the Dallas Summer Musicals (DSM) High School Musical Theatre Awards giving our kiddos an opportunity to compete for 16 different awards including Best Musical, Best Actor and Best Actress,” Lierman said. “Frenship has received 44 nominations in the last five years. We have had three kids win the Best Actor or Best Actress awards giving them an opportunity to perform at the Jimmy Awards, which are National High School Musical Theatre Awards, in New York City on Broadway at the Minskoff Theatre, where the Lion King performs eight shows a week!”
Lierman said that there will be a DSM judge at each performance of Beauty and the Beast and Jekyll and Hyde.
“Please come out and cheer loud for the students,” Lierman said. “The more feedback they get from an audience, the better the show.”
Lierman expressed how excited he is for the show season to get started, and that he cannot wait to see what his students are capable of.
“The other directors and I could not be prouder of the hard work these kids put into each production,” Lierman said. “We cannot wait to show you all of our hard work on the stage. We would love for you to ‘Be Our Guest’ as we celebrate musical theatre.”
