Frenship Football to Play First Home Game of the Season

Frenship Head Football Coach Jay Northcutt said that after a great start with Fall Football Camp, he knows that his boys are ready to do their job and be physical.

“We have more players in our football program than ever before,” Northcutt said. “One big change is that we all play on both sides of the ball, which has created more depth for our team.”

Northcutt said that after a challenging 2020 season, he and his players are ready to get back on the field and show people what they are made of.

“Our returning letterman this year were not happy about how last year turned out and have used that as fuel to stay hungry in preparation for this season,” Northcutt said. “These guys have been very intentional with the chemistry and culture of our team.”

Some returning players include Tai’ja Smith, Sterling Inman, Damion Hernandez, Chad Pharies, Gage Cobb, Lincoln Parrot and Caydin Blakely, all of which are chomping at the bit to get this season going.

The Tigers will take the field on Friday to take on the Coronado Mustangs. You can purchase tickets to the game HERE or at the gate.

“Coronado is a talented team coming off a successful year in 2020,” Northcutt said. “They have good players returning on both sides of the ball and I have been impressed with their QB in their scrimmages.”

Northcutt expressed that through the couple of scrimmages his boys have had so far, he feels that they are prepared to take on Coronado.

“We had a great outing versus Caprock last week,” Northcutt said. “We scored quite a few times and kept them out of the endzone almost the whole night. We still have lots to work on, but I am expecting an electric atmosphere on Friday night.”

The gates open 90 minutes before kickoff at 7:00 p.m. at Peoples Bank Stadium.

The game will be live-streamed by Frenship.TV and you can watch the stream HERE, on the Frenship Athletics Facebook page, or  by using your own streaming device with the BoxCast app.
