This year the robotics team put in over 1,500 hours together to complete the virtual games for the FIRST competition, and to prepare for the face-to-face UIL State Competition. 

 

FIRST is a robotics organization that spans across the United States. FIRST helps prepare young people for their futures through inclusive programs facilitated in schools. FIRST hosts many competitions throughout the school year and FHS robotics students often compete in them.

 

This year, due to the ongoing pandemic, FIRST competitions were virtual, adding another component of difficulty for FHS robotics students.

 

Despite the challenges, the Iron Tigers competed in the FIRST "Global Innovation Challenge," At Home Robot Challenge," and a "Game Innovation Challenge."

 

The Iron Tigers team consists of Mark Dannemiller, Justin Cluff, Joaquin Navarro, Chad Williamson, Skyler Dempsey, and Kadereck Smith and is lead by FHS Robotics Club Sponsor and Coach James Holloway and Robotics Mentor Nancy Schunke.
