Frenship Baseball Prepares for Playoffs After Falling to Odessa Permian

The Tigers were on top as the teams finished up the suspended game from Tuesday, April 27, but the Panthers rallied for a 9-8 victory in eight innings as the game came to an end.

Immediately following the suspended game, the regularly scheduled contest began. The Tigers started off strong with a 2-0 lead in the second inning. The Panthers came alive in the third inning and tied the game with a two-run double, a squeeze bunt and a fourth run.

Frenship’s Ryland Morin came in late in the third to correct errors and logged four scoreless frames. At the beginning of the fourth inning Coldon Kiser got a double and came home on Barrett Workman’s RBI grounder.

The success was short lived when Permian’s Cooper Golden took down the final 15 Tiger hitters with 6 strikeouts.

The game ended with Permian winnings it’s first ever District Baseball Championship and Frenship taking the number two spot, 3-5.

Now the Tigers have set their sights on preparing for the Bi-District playoff game on Friday, May 7 against El Paso Americas in Fort Stockton, starting with game one at 6:00 p.m.
