Frenship Softball Prepares for Upcoming First District Game

Frenship Softball Head Coach, Robby Dickenson, said the tournament in Dripping Springs was a great learning experience against tough teams.

“Last weekend in Dripping Springs we went 3-3,” Dickenson said. “We played several strong teams like Leander, Boerne, Vista Ridge, Hays, Manor and Tiny.”yellow tiger paw

Dickenson said that this weekends tournament in Trophy Club will help set the stage for District starting the following week.

“We always strive to focus on fundamental softball,” Dickenson said. “District should be balanced and competitive, but since we didn’t play last year, a lot is still unknown. I am still trying to fill positions of seniors who graduated last year!”

The District opener will be on Tuesday, March 9 against the San Angelo Central Lady Cats at Tiger Field. Dickenson said he and his teams have seen San Angleo Central in the past but is not sure what they have this year.

“Erin Boles and Sydnee Bowlin are our leading hitters; Jill Franco and Erin Boles are leading in home runs; Maya Mongelli, Claudia Kerr, Bekah Farmer, Jacie Woods, and Tierney Schleve are my senior players,” Dickenson said. “I am very excited. We have a lot of talent returning and we should compete for the District Championship. We will also hopefully make a deep run into the playoffs.”

Tickets to the Softball District opener will go on sale on Monday, March 8 at 12:00 p.m. here. The game will also be streamed live with Frenship.TV. Follow the Frenship Athletics Facebook and Twitter pages for more!
