Frenship Boys Basketball Takes Home Two Wins Last Week Remaining Perfect in District Play

On Friday, January 22, the Tigers hosted the Midland Lee Rebels. The Tigers started the first quarter strong when Jeb Smallwood sank a three-point bucket which was quickly followed by a fast break by Devin Hartfield for two points.

Tate Beeles started the second quarter with a three-pointer for the Tigers, furthering their lead against the Rebels. The Tigers followed through the second half, never letting go of the lead, winning 66-37.

Devin Hartfield led the Tigers in scoring with 18 points, Tate Beeles and TJ Miller were close behind with 10 points each.

Coach Paul Page said it felt great to take care of business against Midland Lee.

“A lot of players got some important reps that will be needed as we move closer to the playoffs,” Page said.

On Tuesday, January 26, the Tigers traveled to Abilene High to take on the Eagles and ended up taking home the victory in a hard-fought battle in double OT.

Devin Hartfield once again led the team in scoring with 27 points, Jeb Smallwood had 13 points, Lincon Parrott had 9 points and Tate Beeles had 8.

Page said this game was a pivotal District 2-6A game and another gritty performance by his team.

“Getting to 8-0 in district was another important step toward our goal of winning a district championship,” said Page.

The Tigers play again Tuesday, February 2, when they take on Odessa High at the Tiger Pit.
