Frenship Boys Soccer Team Prepares for District with Win at Estacado

FHS boys head soccer coach Scott Smith said this game helped his younger players gain experience and his more experienced players improve their team chemistry.

“It was a game of two halves,” Smith said. “We started some youngers players and players that haven’t accumulated as much of the workload from prior games.”

Smith said his aim was for the more inexperienced players to get more playing time and begin sharing some of the workload with the heavy hitting players.

“In the second half, we played our more experienced players, with the aim of improving our chemistry,” Smith said. “We took a lot of positives from both halves.”

Smith explained that his team leaders stood out from the way they played the game, to the way they lead the team to a victory.

“Once again Jon Olivarez, Kobe Gonzales, and Ryan Pine were very central to the way our team played,” Smith said. “They are getting their goals and assists through their work rate and perseverance.”

The FHS Varsity Boys’ Soccer team will play again on Saturday, January 16 against Lake Ridge at Midwestern State University.
