Tiger Football Looks Ahead to Unique 2020 Senior Night

The Tigers rode into Shotwell Stadium on Friday, November 13, with their destiny in their hands. But a smothering Abilene High defensive performance kept the Tigers off the board until the fourth quarter. Junior quarterback Gage Cobb entered the game following halftime with the Tigers trailing 28-0 to the Eagles. Cobb, a lefty who has also seen time as a reserve punter this season, went 7/15 for 78 yards on the evening with the Tigers’ lone score, a 17-yard pass to Carson Miller in the final period.

Cobb entered in relief of fellow junior quarterback Corbin Gandy who struggled with Abilene High’s secondary throwing three interceptions in the first half of the game. The Eagles, donning iridescent gold jerseys with black shoulder stripes, an homage to the dominant Abilene High teams of the 1950s, relied heavily on their running game racking up over 200 yards and 4 scores on the ground. The Eagles’ defense keyed in on the Tigers’ rushing attack and bottled up senior running back William Bayouth who still battled for 55 yards on 11 carries.

The senior night game will be broadcast live on Double T 97.3 FM and Frenship.TV with Keith Patrick and Chois Woodman on the call. Kickoff is at 7:00pm and the Frenship Football Pregame show airs at 6:30pm on Friday, November 27.

Tickets for the game will be available for purchase on Wednesday, November 25 at NOON.
