Frenship took down the Lee Lady Rebels in three sets earning their seventh sweep in district play and making short work of their district foe 25-22, 25-16, 25-13. Frenship combined for an impressive 11 aces on the day led by Chloe Rawls and Hannah Page who both tallied 3 apiece. The Tigers also notched 38 kills on the day spread throughout the team. Devyn Nairn led the way with 8, followed closely by Addison McClure and Madison Ramsey who each accounted for 7.
On Saturday, Frenship hosted the Abilene High Lady Eagles in a rescheduled match. Coach Trew’s squad once again made short work of their district opponent and sweeping the Eagles 25-6, 25-7, 25-11. Once again the Tigers tallied impressive ace numbers with 17 on the day. This time it was senior Libero Kendall Mahaney leading the way with 7 and Hannah Page, Kayton Genenbacher, and Chloe Rawls all chipping in 3 more apiece.
The Tigers’ Tuesday match was Senior Night and the evening began with honoring the 10 seniors of the program prior to a high-stakes rematch with the Midland High Lady Bulldogs. In their meeting in Midland, Frenship came out victorious in 5 sets and this evening would turn out to be more of the same. The Tigers took a 1-0 lead with a 25-17 victory but Midland High stormed back with an impressive offensive attack to even the match at 1-1 with a 25-23 victory in set two. Frenship owned a decisive victory in set three with a 25-14 advantage but Midland High scored the final 8 points of set four to even the match 2-2 with a 25-19 win. In a back-and-forth set five Frenship tied the game at 13-13 and the veteran service of Hannah Page sealed the Tigers’ victory 15-13 and provided a 3-2 win.
Kayton Genenbacher turned in an incredible 51 assists, almost matching her combined assists from the previous two matches (54), 21 digs, 2 blocks, 6 kills, and a team-leading 5 aces. Kendall Mahaney was a force on the back line with 59 digs on the day and Hannah Page contributed 21 more and 4 aces as well. Devyn Nairn and Madison Ramsey each owned 14 kills and were followed closely by Addison McClure with 13 of her own as the Tigers combined for 66 kills in the heart-pounding penultimate match of the regular season.
Frenship will be back in action one final time on the road Friday, November 13 facing the Abilene High Lady Eagles at 5:00 pm as they seek to complete an undefeated District 2-6A season. Frenship’s Bi-Distrct playoff matchup is set as they will face the El Paso America Trailblazers at Pecos High School on Thursday, November 29 at 5:30 pm.
