Tiger Football Continues to Battle in Difficult District 2-6A

The Tigers (2-3, 1-1) join three other teams in the district with a 1-1 record as Abilene High, Midland High, and this week’s opponent Odessa Permian are all at .500. Only the San Angelo Central Bobcats are undefeated in District 2-6A, but carry an overall record of 2-3 having come out of non-district with three losses.

The Tigers struggled to find an offensive rhythm on Friday, October 23 against the Bobcats. Central jumped out to a 14-0 lead but the Tigers closed that back down to 7 on a 3-yard Corbin Gandy pass to Klein Coker in the second quarter. The Tigers were ultimately held scoreless in the second half while the Bobcats tacked on one more touchdown in the third and two in the final period. Gandy finished the evening 14-35 for 120 yards, 1 TD and 1 INT.  William Bayouth led the way rushing with 16 carries for 67 yards and had 2 catches for another 22 yards on the day.

Defensively the Tigers spent a lot of time on the field and it was Brady Wolfe whose name was called often. He finished with 11 tackles on the evening and was named the Tigers’ Impact Player of the Game. Stefano Sanchez also finished in double digits with 10 tackles and was Frenship’s Defensive MVP.

The Tigers are back at it on Friday, October 30 on the road to face the Odessa Permian Panthers (3-2, 1-1). Mojo struggled earlier in the season losing to a tough Amarillo Tascosa squad in non-district action, a team that Midland Lee defeated. But Permian took down the Lee Rebels in what seemed to be a district-owning move but dropped their contest against Abilene High last week at Shotwell Stadium 25-27. Frenship’s defensive front will have their work cut out for them managing a tough triple option attack led by senior quarterback Harper Terry.

Game coverage will kick off at 6:30 pm live on Double T 97.3 and Frenship.TV with the Frenship Football Pregame Showwith Keith Patrick and Chois Woodman on the call. Fans can keep up with Frenship
