Frenship Track Star Signs to University of Texas

Frenship celebrated their 31st collegiate signee of 2019-2020 last week as Daniel Garland signed to run Track & Field at the University of Texas at Austin.

Garland, a senior multi-sport athlete has already seen marked success in his time at Frenship. As a junior he was a District and Area Champion in the 100M and as part of the 4x200 Relay, he was District Champion and Area Runner Up in the 200M and placed 5th at the Regional Meet. Garland’s 200M PR of 20.73 was the 3rd fastest time in the United States at the time.

Garland plans to major in Biology at UT and has his goals set on becoming a doctor after his athletic career is complete, although for now his focus is on improvement as a senior sprinter.

“Really proud of myself, but I always think there’s room for improvement,” Garland said. “My ultimate goal is to win state in the 100 and 200. I’m planning to drop both of those times down by at least 0.3 or 0.4.”

Garland expects to compete as a sprinter for the Longhorns in the 60M, 100M, and 200M events.
