The Frenship High School Academic Decathlon team is headed to the state competition for the second year in a row. Over the weekend, the FHS team took the first-place overall title at the regional competition in Midland. By the end of the competition, Frenship students secured 29 1st- 3rd place medals.
“We couldn’t be more proud of these kids,” said FHS ACA DEC sponsor Mallory Thomas. “They’ve worked tirelessly, and it showed.”
Frenship went up against 11 large schools in the regional competition where they were tested in 10 subjects including speech, interview, essay, art, music, literature, math economics, science, and social studies. In addition to winning first place overall, Frenship also won second place in “Super Quiz” and medals in various other subjects.
“I feel honored and humbled by these kids daily and knowing that I get to help them grow and become more than they ever thought possible,” said Thomas.
The team is comprised of nine students split into three divisions: Varsity, Scholastic, and Honors. The nine students from Frenship who will compete at the state level on March 6th – 8th are:
Varsity division- Jonathan Ginter, Aaron McGee, Camden Lathan
Scholastic division- Marcos Urias, Ezekial Giles, Ezekial Branch
Honors division- Aubrey Barney, Reagan Hardy, Travis Libre
