Tiger Softball Keeps Rolling, Scores 50 Runs in Three Games

Frenship softball outscored their opponents last week by a combined score of 50-1 in three games to remain unbeaten in district play and atop the standings.

Last Tuesday, the Tigers hosted Tascosa for a doubleheader, and by the end of the night FHS had blasted eight home runs to sweep the Lady Rebels 26-0 and 18-0.

In game one, Angelica Abila, Caroline Kerr, Qo’be Harvest and Jacie Woods all sent a pitch flying over the fence. Harvest and Rundell led the 24-hit parade with four hits apiece while Abila finished 3-for-3 with four runs batted in. FHS added a little icing to the cake from the pitching circle as Torrey Hogan and Maya Mongelli combined to pitch a no-hitter.

In game two, FHS scored nine runs in the first inning and nine more in the third to win 18-0. Abila, Hogan, Claudia Kerr and Erin Boles all hit home runs, and Harvest finished the game 3-for-4. Boles also earned the pitching win for the Tigers.

On Friday, FHS battled through a lightning delay of more than three hours to fight past Odessa Permian 6-1.

A four-run seventh inning after the long delay proved to be the difference. Boles, Kerr, Harvest and Mongelli provided the offense in the big inning. Hogan pitched a complete game and allowed only one run while striking out 12 Lady Panthers.

FHS is 24-6 on the season with a three-game lead in the District 2-6A standings at 7-0. The team hosts Midland Lee Friday at 6:30 p.m.
