Welcome to freshman year!
My name is Berklee Basye, and I am excited to be teaching at the Frenship Ninth Grade Center. I graduated from Amarillo High School and received my Bachelors in Interdisciplinary Studies, Secondary English Education from Lubbock Christian University. This is my third year as a Frenship Tiger and teaching at the Ninth Grade Center.
I chose to teach English, out of all subjects, because I believe that what we do in the classroom teaches our kids how to use their voice. I love that our students have the opportunity to share in differing opinions and that there is not a wrong answer as long as you can prove it. In the classroom, every student has the chance to learn that their story has an impact, and they should share it. There is no greater joy to me than to see a kid fall in love with stories and the differences they all share.
My hope for each year and each new group of students is that they can take what they learn in my class and apply to real world situations. My goal is to show them how English and the skills we teach are used and should be valued in everyday life.
I am looking forward to great year!
